Karen is an independent digital learning transformation consultant. Her role has included working with organisations such as the Royal College of Psychiatrists and Beat, the eating disorder charity.

Karen did a teaching qualification after her English degree but went on to work in motor insurance, eventually completing her FCII – the highest professional qualification for insurance. She moved to the Chartered Insurance Institute (CII), running its large distance learning function, managing print and production to deliver 90 titles to global learners.

After the CII, she was a self-employed learning consultant, authoring a book, creating many e-learning courses on insurance, compliance and local government topics and persuading public sector bodies to adopt digital learning.

This led into a role at Kaplan Professional Education where she became responsible for all of Kaplan’s online learning.

Karen then joined Omniplex, heading a creative commercial team responding to the e-learning needs of blue chip clients in the UK, Europe and USA. She helped clients to implement their purchase of a market leading LMS and managed a face-to-face training team.

Karen enjoys reading and gardening, and has recently taken on an allotment. She lives with her young adult son and daughter, a large hairy dog and two cats.
